Types and characteristics of tool holders
The most commonly used tool holder materials are carbon steel and carbon tool steel. Alloy steel and high-speed steel are used when the rigidity requirements of the blade are high. For various materials, if they are pre-treated to suit their properties, their original properties will not be damaged.
The tool holder is one of the important components, that is related to processing accuracy, tool life, processing efficiency, etc., and it ultimately affects processing quality and processing cost. Therefore, how to correctly choose a suitable tool holder is very important.
1. Sintered tool holders
Scope of application: processing situations with high interference conditions.
Feature:
1). Nut-less and collet-less design, the front diameter can be minimized
2). Longer service life.
3). High-precision chuck tool holder
2. High-precision collet tool holders mainly include HSK tool holders, drawing tool holders, SK tool holders, etc.
1). HSK tool holder
Scope of application: Widely used in rotating tool clamping equipment of high-speed cutting machine tools.
Features:
(1). Concentricity and accuracy are less than 0.005MM, and this accuracy can be guaranteed under high-speed operation.
(2). The tool holder adopts a central internal cooling design and flange water outlet design.
(3). The taper shank has high precision and works well with the machine tool spindle. Under high-speed operation, it can protect the spindle and cutting tools well and extend the service life of the spindle and cutting tools.
2). Rear broach tool holder
Scope of application: Widely used in high-speed cutting machine tools.
Features:
No nuts, and the tool holder chuck is more convenient and stable to lock. A back-pull tool holder chuck locking structure uses bolt rotation to place the chuck in the lower through hole of the tool holder, and the bolt pulls the chuck back to lock the tools together.
3). SK tool handle
Scope of application: Mainly used to hold tool holders and tools during drilling, milling, reaming, tapping, and grinding.
Features: High precision, small CNC machining center, and milling machine suitable for high-speed processing.
4). Side fixed tool holder
Scope of application: used for rough machining of flat shank drill bits and milling cutters.
Features: Simple structure, large clamping force, but poor accuracy and versatility.
